Post-Consent Decree NOPD/Public Partnership Suggestions.

It's clear the federal consent decree doesnt serve the interests of the New Orleans Police Department nor the law abiding public. While not one of the elite White liberals gentrifying public safety, I nonetheless have decades of experience forging police/community partnerships. These partnerships often arise after automatic dismissal since I'm not the preferred concerned citizen/overseer in too many majority Black cities.

Here are two suggestions for post-consent decree NOPD/public partnerships:

Suggestion One: Stop Listening to Anti-Police Protestors!

NOPD should place far more weight on requests for proactive service and visibility than demands to disengage from activists who don't support stakeholders comprising neighborhood associations, mentoring organizations, safety minded clergy and independent safety advocates. Please note, it's never these constituencies stealing statues, vandalizing businesses or demanding defunding during dangerous times. Please further note as Black people supporting policing, they are the ones officers work with long after protestors march off to new causes.

These stakeholders vote in mayors and council members and as such should never be alienated from a department governed by these officials.

Suggestion Two: Build Active Alliances with Advocates who Want Crime Reduction, not Rhetoric:

I call this dynamic relationship "#BrothersBadges2gether," and is nothing less than working hand in glove to get problem persons arrested and prosecuted. Apologies to fans of anti-mass incarceration but this option can never be removed.

By the way, this is a norm in suburbs where Black stakeholders are few and far between.

Urban areas can't flourish while inundated by subjects long overdue for arrest. No amount of elite White liberal propoganda removes this fact and only enslaves low income Black communities to criminals with high self esteem.

My last active alliance resulted in nearly 30 arrests, without profiling nor excessive force, of individuals who were making a community center unstable and unsafe. Trespassing, theft, car break-ins, car theft, and intimidation plummeted because the local police district and I worked to hold suspects responsible.

Bro Al Mims, our number one crimefighter and mentor, does the same in beseiged Central City. He's done this at risk of life and limb for thirty years.

When Black safety advocates and blue law enforcement work together, urban safety is the final result.

These are two suggestions for NOPD/public partnerships after the welcome end of the federal consent decree. Let me reemphasize, knowing that I'm not an elite White liberal means they will likely be ignored but that's exactly why they're offered.

Unlike elite White liberals, I actually know how to mobilize the public and police to create safety, instead of excuses.
